HOLY SPIRIT - "SPIRIT MOVERS"
"Spirit Movers": a Social Ministry for all parishioners who have reached the age of SO, are proud of the accomplishment, and are interested in socializing in a very informal setting.
Monthly gatherings: once a month following the 10:30 Mass in the Martha/Mary Room for a continental breakfast. This social gathering may include "Chris Cakes" sausage/pancake breakfast, a Valentine event and/or other breakfast/brunch ideas. June and December bring special Saturday evening dinners following the 5:00 p. Mass.
DUES: annual dues are $5 per person, the same as they were 25 years ago. Additional income is raised through the annual Super Bowl Bake Sale, organized casino trips and at the monthly 50/50 jackpot drawing.
ACTIVITIES: these will vary according to availability and interest. In the past they included Casino trips, theaters, T-Bones games, golf and bowling outings and the group is always open to new suggestions. Monthly gatherings at a local restaurant for a social dinner; a monthly "Lunch Bunch" gathering at different restaurants is organized by a special committee.
PARISH INVOLVEMENT: look for the "Spirit Movers at the annual Fun Fair. The "CAKE WALK" is a Spirit Movers original and the entire parish is involved in contributing to its success. The annual parish "Garage Sale" relies on many hours of help from the Spirit Movers.
The 'Spirit Movers" is all about people interested is sharing with others. Not a lot of time is expected but a lot of smiles and storytelling just seems to fit into the scheme of things. Being over 50 years of age is a privilege.
Friday, September 10, at the 'Parish Fun Fair, many members of the Spirit Movers will be managing the 'Cake Walk," Say "HI" while you're in line for some fun.
